Time and time again, New Yorkers have proven that whatever the community needs, we will show up for each other. New York City may be a city of over 8 million people, but our shared love of our community is truly something that unites us.

Undue Medical Debt is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with The City of New York and The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City to eliminate over $2 billion in medical debt for thousands of New Yorkers over a three-year period. Read more about this project here.

The city is investing $18 million in this collaboration but we still need your support to reach even more New Yorkers. Over the next three years, we’ll be calling on the incredible Undue Medical Debt community to help us raise an additional $5 million. For the inaugural year of this campaign, our goal is to raise $2.5 million.

Can we count on you to join us?

Undue Medical Debt utilizes your donation to purchase bundled medical debt portfolios from hospitals and commercial debt buyers to then abolish that debt at pennies on the dollar. Through our innovative model, just $1 has the power to eliminate $100 of crushing medical debt. This is a direct investment back into the many communities that we know and love.

When debt relief recipients open the envelope from Undue, they are told that their debt has been bought by a third party and erased, with no strings attached. Recipients owe nothing on the debt and face no tax penalty

Here is a testimonial from a New Yorker who had her debt eliminated by Undue Medical Debt:

“Whew! What a relief. I am a single mom who had two surgeries back-to-back, and I am trying hard to make ends meet. I have been brought to tears by the kindness of this act. Before, I was literally praying and drowning in debt. Can I take out another loan? What am I going to do? This miracle is the best gift to receive in the new year. Thank you so much for selecting me. I am forever grateful. Literal tears… Thank you!”

Let’s come together to make an impact on more of our beloved community members like M.P. It is truly the New Yorker way!
