The leadership at King Street Church invites our Adult Discipleship Ministry to put faith into action through the spiritual practice of almsgiving.

“Almsgiving” may not be a common word in our culture, but Scripture speaks of it often. In Matthew 6, Jesus refers repeatedly to giving to those in need. In Luke 12:29–34, He reminds His followers not to set their hearts on earthly security, but to seek His Kingdom — and to give generously:

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Almsgiving is not simply charity; it is an act of trust. It shapes our hearts as disciples and aligns our lives with the heart of Christ.

Through Compassion in Community, we have the opportunity to make a tangible difference right here in Franklin County. A collective gift of $10,000 would abolish more than $1.6 million in medical debt for approximately 1,535 individuals — neighbors we serve as the people of God in Chambersburg.

This is a powerful and practical way to seek the Kingdom, to practice generosity together, and to bless our community in the name of Jesus.
